1/2 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup water
Filling
6 ounces softened cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Topping
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease or line 16 muffin cups with foil liners. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Beat sugar, oil, egg and vanilla till blended. Beat in melted chocolate and gradually beat in dry ingredients alternately with water. Batter will be thin. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling 1/2 full. Spoon filling by rounded tablespoonfuls over batter. Spoon remaining batter over filling. Bake 20-25 minutes till toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. While still hot, sprinkle with chips. Let stand 5 minutes till chips are shiny and spread to frost. Remove from pans and cool on racks.
Filling
Beat cream cheese and sugar together till smooth. Add egg and salt and beat till creamy. Stir in chips.
