Soft Sugar Cookies
Prep Time:
Makes: 6 dozen

1 cup softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Frosting
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon almond extract
2-4 tablespoons hot water

Heat oven to 350°F. Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and extracts. Combine dry ingredients and add gradually to creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes till light brown. Remove to racks to cool.
Frosting
Combine all ingredients with enough water to achieve desired consistency.
